Step into your authentic truth because your truth will light up the world.”
– Gabby Bernstein
Over the weekend one of my friends was telling me about a current situation in which she was feeling anxious and deciding what her next steps should be. I shared with her various bits and pieces that I’ve learned or am still learning to do without hesitating because they always lead to being all-zen-and-shit. I also realized how easy it is to tell someone else what to do, but knowing better has minimal value if I’m not DOING those things.
This morning as I was writing in my journal about the things for which I’m grateful, this is the first thing I wrote:
I feel grateful for the people who provide guidance, encouragement, inspiration, and support that I’ve needed to help me live more authentically… to speak my truth, to choose love over fear, to see everything happens FOR us, to believe better is on its way when something doesn’t work out the way we hoped, to appreciate and be grateful for the experiences and people that illumine our path, to get out of my comfort zone because growth isn’t always comfortable or easy.”
– 4 April 2021, my morning gratitude
So, here’s the short list (without explanations) of the things that I shared with my friend that I hoped would help her decide what she should, then I also took the same advice for my own situation… and that’s how I arrived at my gratitude this morning and this blog post. 🙂
- Trust your gut. Your intuition won’t lead you astray.
- Breathe, decide what you’re going to do that’s true to who you are, and do it.
- Speak your truth because most people aren’t mind readers and won’t know our thoughts or feelings unless we express them.
- Trust that our thoughts and actions help to invite and align what we need – experiences, knowledge, people – for our life’s purpose and mission, so always stay positive by focusing on what you want instead of what you don’t want and believe yourself when you say you deserve to receive it.
- Focus on what you have to gain rather than what you have to lose.
- Find the courage to let go of what you don’t want in order to make room for what you do want.
- Maintain your attitude of gratitude even when things don’t go as you hoped because everything happens FOR us; therefore something better is on its way to you.
If you’re looking for daily reminders to help you shine and live authentically, you should follow one of my favorite Instagram creators, Impact Coaching and Wellness. I always feel encouraged by Melanie’s messages that accompany her art, and sometimes the timing seems to be exactly what I needed that day. She answered the call to step into her authentic truth and now she shines so brightly. I appreciate and feel grateful for her daily presence as a light on my path.

Whether right or wrong (probably wrong)…I look towards moderation when it comes to decisions. I don’t trust my gut or intuition enough to act on it (them). I can’t say, per se, that I’m right or wrong. Anecdotal evidence suggests that I’m right more often than wrong. But like most people I’m of two brains most of the time and my monkey brain usually loses out over my Sherman brain (my mom’s maiden name and the side of the family I most resemble. I try to analyze, systematically and logically (Cue the Logical song by Supertramp)…and then make a predictable choice.
A few times I jumped I fell hard and hurt myself and others…a few times I survived and succeeded. Life is weird like that…or maybe it’s just life.
One thing that seems to fit life though…The “opportunities” will continue unabated.
